LuAnn’s Legacy, a Relay for Life team associated with the Norlanco Relay event held at Cocalico High School each June, has planned its first “Girls’ Night Out – High School Style” event to be held in the Dogwood Community room at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz.

The drop-in event will be held on Friday, March 30, from 6 to 10 p.m.

“Girls’ Night Out is designed to be an evening for girls to come out and have fun while shopping for a prom gown,” explained Andrea Lamphere, one of the organizers of the special evening for young ladies. The event will feature gently used donated prom gowns that will be sold at discounted prices. “There will be a place to try gowns on and (plenty of) mirrors,” said Lamphere.

Oregon Road, Lititz, on Friday, March 30, from 6 to 10 p.m.

To add fun to the evening, Lamphere has also lined up vendors who can help young women look their best for prom. “We’ll have makeup consultants, hairstylists, a florist, and jewelry vendors to help (the girls) put a prom package together,” explained Lamphere, who hopes high school-aged girls will bring their mothers and sisters along to help them choose a dress and enjoy the evening.

To create a yummy atmosphere, the team will provide a chocolate fountain and other goodies to munch on. Lamphere’s daughter, Jenna, will be spinning tunes to complete the scene.

There is an admission charge to attend Girls’ Night Out, but the ticket may be used as a coupon to receive the admission price off any dress an attendee purchases. Only one coupon may be used per dress. Attendees are asked to enter at the east entrance to Landis Homes and follow the signs to the Dogwood Community Room. Door prizes will be given away.

The team is still accepting dress donations, and gowns may be dropped off at Landis Homes between 5 and 6 p.m. on the day of the event.

In addition to the Girl’s Night Out event, the team’s spring bazaar will feature local vendors and crafters, as well as baked goods. Hot dogs, soup, and more foods will also be sold.

LuAnn’s Legacy is named in honor of Lamphere’s sister-in-law, who passed away from cancer in 2001. The spring of 2002, the family formed a Relay for Life team and participated in the Norlanco event. Last year, LuAnn’s Legacy raised nearly $5,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Tickets purchased prior to the event will be discounted. Readers who would like to purchase tickets to Girls’ Night Out or make a donation of a gown may call 664-3566 or email her at alamphere1@aol.com .
